PC Overview with Keyboard & Typing (2 Days)

Students will learn the basic skills necessary to operate a personal computer, as well as start touch typing. The blended learning method, combining PC Overview and Typing Skills makes this a powerful entry level course.

Who is this course for?

The target student for this course is any person who has had little to no exposure to computers. This course is perfect for companies that have embarked on employee development initiatives, taking entry level office assistants and introducing them to computer technology.

Pre-requisites

Students need to be reading and writing literate.

 Objectives

Lesson objectives help students become comfortable with the course, and also provide a means to evaluate learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  •  Prepare to use a personal computer.
  • Become familiar with the parts of a computer.
  •  Know the difference between hardware and software.
  •  Start a personal computer.
  •  Use Microsoft application software, including Word and Excel
  • Begin typing, from scratch – using the typing software on CD – for you to keep

LESSON: KEYBOARD & TYPING SKILLS

Objectives

While learning the basic fundamentals of personal computers, delegates are taught how to touch type and to be familiar with the various keys on the keyboard

Level 1

  •  Learn key location, key transfer skills, (finger co-ordination) and typing speed, concurrently
  •  Beginners section provides a time proven method for learning the keys
  • Learn to use the Number keypad
  •  Games, which a fun way for beginners to gain speed on the letter keys – helps transfer your knowledge of the keyboard into permanent memory
